Introduced in 1986, the Smith & Wesson Model 745 was purpose-built to dominate International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) competition. Designed as a dedicated single-action match pistol, the Model 745 combined an all-stainless steel frame with a blued carbon steel slide, a crisp target trigger, and an oversized ambidextrous frame-mounted safety switch. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of IPSC (1976–1986), S&W produced a special commemorative run featuring gold-filled slide engraving and the legendary "DVC" serial prefix—representing IPSC's Latin motto Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas (Accuracy, Power, Speed).
This exact pistol, serial number DVC0805, was manufactured in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1986.
