The Ruger New Model Single-Six .32 H&R Magnum with a 9 1/2" barrel stands as a prized treasure among rimfire-frame centerfire revolvers and a standout piece of modern single-action history. Introduced in 1984 to showcase the potent .32 H&R Magnum cartridge, this variation pairs Ruger's famously robust engineering with an exceptionally rare 9 1/2-inch barrel configuration. While standard 4 5/8", 5 1/2", and 6 1/2" models filled the holsters of casual plinkers, this extra-long-barrel variant was produced in far scarcer numbers, making it an elusive find for dedicated collectors today.

The Ruger Single-Six in .32 H&R Magnum is a standout classic among single-action revolvers, proudly manufactured by Sturm, Ruger & Co. and first introduced to American shooters in 1984 as the "Single-Six Magnum" (SSM). Conceived as the first centerfire variation built on the traditionally rimfire Single-Six frame, this revolver won over enthusiasts by delivering a potent punch with minimal recoil, bridging the gap between small-bore plinkers and heavy-caliber trail guns. Because it was introduced well after 1973, every .32-caliber Single-Six left the factory equipped with Ruger’s innovative transfer bar safety mechanism, which ensures the hammer cannot contact the firing pin unless the trigger is fully pulled, allowing it to be safely carried with all six chambers loaded. Adding to its unique appeal and multi-cartridge versatility, the revolver functions as a multi-caliber platform safely firing .32 H&R Magnum, .32 S&W Long, and .32 S&W Short ammunition, offering shooters exceptional adaptability for both precision target practice and small-game hunting. 
 
Though production spanned two distinct eras—the original adjustable-sight run from 1984 to 1997 and a Cowboy Action-inspired revival featuring fixed sights and "bird's head" grips from 2002 to 2015—the line has since been discontinued in favor of the Ruger Single-Seven.
