The Remington Model 7400 is a gas-operated semi-automatic hunting rifle produced by Remington Arms from 1981 until 2004, developed as an improved successor to the earlier Remington Model 742 Woodsmaster. Designed primarily for big-game hunting, particularly in the wooded regions of North America where quick follow-up shots are valuable, the Model 7400 combines traditional sporting rifle aesthetics with the fast operation of a semi-automatic action. The rifle operates using a gas-operated system that cycles the bolt automatically after each shot, feeding from a detachable box magazine typically holding four rounds, though higher-capacity magazines were also produced.
