The Ruger No. 1-A Light Sporter is a refined and elegant single-shot sporting rifle produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co., widely admired for combining classic falling-block rifle design with modern strength, craftsmanship, and hunting performance. Inspired by the classic British Farquharson falling-block rifles of the late 19th century, the Ruger No. 1 utilized a strong internal hammer and vertically sliding breechblock action that gave the rifle exceptional strength and a remarkably compact overall length despite using full-length sporting barrels.
