Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Conceived by Bill Ruger in 1967 as a homage to classic British Farquharson falling-block single-shot rifles, the Ruger No. 1 stands as one of the most elegant, mechanically sound sporting rifles ever produced in America. Utilizing an exceptionally strong under-lever operated falling-block action, the No. 1 places the breech lockup extremely close to the rear of the cartridge, resulting in a compact overall rifle length even when paired with a long 26-inch barrel. In this Standard (1B) configuration, the rifle features a 26-inch heavy sporter barrel without iron sights, an integral quarter-rib scope mount, tang safety, and a hand-selected, highly figured checkered American walnut stock featuring a classic semi-beavertail forend and a gold Ruger medallion inset into the grip cap. Chambered in the flat-shooting .243 Winchester cartridge and mounted with a period-correct Made-in-USA Burris Fullfield rifle scope in Ruger steel rings, clean No. 1 rifles with standout wood figure are blue-chip collectibles.
This fine, highly preserved single-shot rifle, serial number 133-34890, is an authentic Ruger No. 1 Standard (1B) manufactured in Southport, Connecticut, circa 1996. Chambered in .243 Winchester, this rifle features a 26-inch heavy sporter barrel, high-gloss blued finish, falling-block action, quarter-rib scope mount, and gorgeous, highly figured checkered American walnut furniture with a gold grip cap medallion. Preserved in pristine, near-mint original condition throughout with flawless blued finish coverage, vibrant wood grain figure, glass-smooth under-lever travel, crisp single-stage trigger, crystal-clear scope optics, and a mirror-bright bore with razor-sharp rifling. Offering classic single-shot elegance and premium optics, this Ruger No. 1 represents a magnificent target and hunting rifle.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3-day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
