The Ruger Bisley Vaquero is a single-action revolver introduced in 1998 as a variant of the original large-frame Vaquero, combining the fixed-sight cowboy styling of the Vaquero with Ruger's distinctive Bisley grip frame, Bisley hammer, and Bisley trigger. Inspired by the historic Colt Bisley revolver of the late 19th century, the redesigned grip positions the shooter's hand lower and more directly behind the bore, providing improved control and reduced felt recoil, particularly with heavy magnum and .45 Colt loads. Built on Ruger's exceptionally strong New Model single-action action with a transfer-bar safety, the Bisley Vaquero was offered in .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and .45 Colt, with 4?-inch and 5½-inch barrels, in both blued and high-polish stainless-steel finishes. It retained the Vaquero's fixed sights and traditional Old West appearance while offering enhanced shootability for cowboy action competitors, hunters, and recreational shooters. Production of the original large-frame Bisley Vaquero continued until 2005, after which Ruger introduced the smaller New Vaquero platform and later reintroduced Bisley-gripped New Vaqueros on the mid-size frame.
