Item Description
Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this uncommon semi-automatic pistol for a penny-start auction; this is the CZ-USA 40B!
The CZ 40B is a unique pistol in the company’s lineup, notable for its very limited importation—originally brought into the U.S. market only in 2002, then briefly reintroduced in 2007. This short production and import window has made the 40B one of the rarer modern CZ handguns, appealing to both shooters and collectors alike.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The CZ 40B is an uncommon, full-size, double-stack .40 S&W pistol introduced by CZ as a purpose-built .40 caliber design rather than a simple 9 to .40 conversion. Mechanically, it draws on CZ’s proven locked-breech heritage—short recoil operation with a robust slide/locking system—and pairs that with a relatively broad, 1911-style grip contour and wider magazine well to offer a comfortable, natural point of aim for many shooters. Typical factory specs list a 4.25" barrel, an overall length near 8.1", and an 11-round factory capacity, with a serviceable sight radius from the integral blade/rear arrangement; overall weight sits in the low-32 oz range depending on finish and exact parts. The 40B was developed during the period of CZ’s exploratory partnerships and export arrangements (there are well-known ties between CZ and Colt in the model’s backstory), which is part of why the pistol’s ergonomics and styling mix CZ pattern slide/mechanism traits with a grip feel that some shooters find closer to classic American service pistols. In use the CZ 40B is generally regarded as a solid, accurate duty-style pistol with good shootability for a full-size .40—its metal (alloy-frame) construction keeps weight reasonable while providing a stable firing platform that tames recoil compared with many compact poly framed .40s. Owners and reviewers praise its ergonomics and accuracy potential, though the model never reached the broad commercial success of CZ’s 75 family or later polymer striker lines, so parts support and aftermarket options are more limited and user communities are smaller than for CZ’s mainstream models. That relative rarity has produced modest collector and resale interest: well-preserved examples trade in the mid-hundreds USD on the used market and can command a premium if boxed with paperwork or in scarce finish/serial ranges. For someone who values a full-size, metal-framed .40 with CZ mechanical pedigree, the 40B is a capable and characterful choice—especially for collectors or shooters who appreciate less common CZ variants—but prospective buyers should be aware of magazine/baseplate differences across runs and check parts/magazine availability for their region.
