Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Designed and built exclusively within Smith & Wesson's elite Performance Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, the Model 952 represents the absolute pinnacle of American centerfire target pistol engineering. Tracing its direct mechanical lineage to the legendary Model 52 target pistol chambered in .38 Special Wadcutter, the Model 952 was engineered to transition that legendary bullseye level of accuracy into the ubiquitous 9mm Parabellum cartridge. Built on a hand-fitted stainless steel target frame with a single-action fire control group, the Model 952-2 introduced an updated firing pin block safety mechanism while retaining the model's signature spherical titanium-coated barrel positioning bushing, which locks the 5-inch match barrel into exact alignment with surgical precision. Highly coveted for its match-winning lockup, hand-tuned crisp single-action trigger, and low production output, the 952-2 remains one of the most sought-after target handguns ever produced by Smith & Wesson.
This exceptional example is an authentic Smith & Wesson Model 952-2 Performance Center, bearing serial number DAB1790 and documented by its factory spent test-casing envelope through December 18, 2008. The stainless steel slide and frame feature a flawless matte finish with polished accent flats and sharp Performance Center logo script along the right slide. Outfitted with factory checkered wood target grip panels bearing gold S&W logo medallions, Wilson Combat adjustable rear target sights, and a serrated front target blade, this handgun presents in pristine condition throughout. It comes exceptionally complete with its original S&W Performance Center locking metal flight case, original factory instruction manuals, warranty card, Club 1852 insert, factory recoil spring accessory, and factory test casing envelope serialized to this exact firearm. The mechanical cycle is glass-smooth, the single-action match trigger breaks with hair-trigger crispness, and the 5-inch match barrel bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling. An investment-grade masterwork for the ultimate Smith & Wesson or precision target pistol collection.
