Engineered in Germany by German Sport Guns (GSG) and offered through SIG Sauer Inc.'s Exeter, New Hampshire catalog, the SIG Sauer 1911-22 was designed to give shooters a full-sized 1911 training platform chambered in inexpensive .22 LR. Built to match true Mil-Spec 80% dimensions and weights of full-caliber Government Model 1911s, the 1911-22 incorporates an aluminum alloy slide paired with a zinc alloy receiver to cycle low-recoil rimfire ammunition reliably. Outfitted with classical 1911 controls—including an extended ambidextrous thumb safety, an extended beavertail grip safety with memory bump, a skeletonized match trigger, and a knurled hammer—the pistol mimics the exact manual of arms of a full-size defensive 1911.
