Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Commissioned through TALO Distributors as an extraordinarily limited production run of only 300 units worldwide, the Colt Aztec Jaguar Azul stands as one of the most stunning custom 1911 executions Colt’s Custom Shop has ever offered. Built upon Colt's venerable Government Model platform chambered in the high-velocity .38 Super cartridge—a caliber deeply revered across Latin American and Southwestern collecting traditions—the Aztec Jaguar Azul pays homage to the elite warrior societies of ancient Mesoamerica. Featuring deep polished royal bluing adorned with intricate laser-etched Aztec temple geometry, gold-inlaid jaguar icons, and Aztec warrior motifs, the pistol harmoniously blends fine master-level artistry with John Browning’s legendary single-action mechanical engineering. Fitted with custom-carved motif pearlite grips housing inlaid gold Rampant Colt medallions, this limited edition represents the pinnacle of modern factory-custom presentation handguns.
This specific example is an authentic TALO Exclusive Colt Aztec Jaguar Azul Government Model chambered in .38 Super, bearing serial number REE139. Finished in striking high-polish and matte bluing with 24kt gold-inlaid accents, it features a 5-inch barrel, classic 1911 control layout, custom gold grip screws, and specialized Aztec-embossed pearlite grips featuring gold Rampant Colt emblems. The factory blue finish and intricate gold inlay work are in pristine condition throughout, displaying untouched metal surfaces and mirror-bright slide flats. Mechanically, the single-action mechanism operates smoothly with crisp lockup, and the 5-inch barrel bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling. Complete in its original factory serialized blue hardshell case with owner's manual packet, TALO insert flyer, cable lock, and one (1) factory 9-round .38 Super magazine, this limited-run Colt offers an extraordinary, investment-grade collector opportunity.
