The Ruger PC Carbine is a modern pistol-caliber semi-automatic rifle designed to provide shooters with a versatile, reliable, and highly practical platform that blends the handling of a compact carbine with the economy and low recoil of common handgun ammunition. Produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co., the current PC Carbine was introduced in 2017 as a spiritual successor to Ruger’s earlier Police Carbine line, but with a completely updated takedown design, modular features, and broader market appeal. Chambered primarily in 9×19mm, with additional variants later offered in .40 S&W and other configurations, the rifle uses a dead-blow blowback operating system in which a weighted bolt helps reduce felt recoil and soften the cycling impulse compared with many simple blowback carbines. One of its most celebrated features is the takedown system, allowing the barrel and forend assembly to separate quickly from the receiver for compact transport, storage, or discreet carrying in packs and cases.
