The Baikal IJ-70-18A is a Russian commercial variant of the famous Makarov PM pistol, produced by Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (IMEZ) and exported under the Baikal name. Designed during the post-Soviet era for the civilian export market, the IJ-70-18A retains the classic Makarov’s proven straight blowback design, double-action/single-action trigger, fixed barrel, slide-mounted safety/decocker, and rugged all-steel construction. Chambered in 9×18mm Makarov, it represents the continuation of one of the Soviet Union’s most iconic military pistol designs, adapted for sporting and commercial ownership. The IJ-70 series was offered in several configurations, including versions with adjustable sights and different magazine capacities.
