The Benelli Nova is a pump-action shotgun introduced in 1999 by Benelli Armi of Italy and engineered as a rugged, all-weather shotgun for hunting, sport shooting, and defensive applications. Chambered in 12 gauge or 20 gauge, the Nova is built around a distinctive one-piece steel-reinforced polymer receiver and buttstock assembly, a design that sets it apart from traditional pump-action shotguns with separate receivers and stocks. It operates using a dual action-bar pump system with a rotating, two-lug locking bolt, providing a strong lockup and reliable cycling with a wide range of ammunition. The 12-gauge model is chambered for 2¾-inch, 3-inch, and 3½-inch shells, while the 20-gauge version accommodates 2¾-inch and 3-inch shells. Depending on the model, barrel lengths range from 18.5 inches for Tactical variants to 24-, 26-, and 28-inch hunting configurations, with interchangeable choke tubes on most field models.
