The Beretta 92S is a classic Italian double-action/single-action semi-automatic pistol that served as an important transitional model in the evolution of the renowned Beretta 92 series, bridging earlier commercial designs and later military and law-enforcement-adopted variants. Manufactured by Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta and chambered in 9mm Luger, the 92S was developed with improvements to meet European police and military requirements, most notably its revised safety system. Unlike earlier 92 models, the 92S relocated the manual safety from the slide to a frame-mounted position that also functioned as a decocker, allowing for safer lowering of the hammer while improving readiness and handling.
