Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Gold Cup is known as the finest shooting semi-automatic in the world and is the standard for competitive guns. The first Colt Gold Cup pistol was introduced in the late 1950s to give competitive shooters a gun to take directly from the dealer’s showcase to the firing line. Colt Gold Cup pistols have been used to compete in local club matches through the National Matches at Camp Perry. The Gold Cup National Match is the ultimate target 1911. If you get a chance to shoot one, don’t miss the opportunity. They are fine shooting pistols.
The MKIV Series 80 Gold Cup National Match is a stainless semi-automatic pistol chambered with .45 ACP, produced between 1986 and 1996. It is a Single Action Only pistol that comes equipped with a Colt-Elliason adjustable rear sight, a wide groove adjustable target trigger, an undercut front sight, a flat mainspring housing, hand-honed internal parts, and a 5-inch National Match barrel. The enhanced versions of this pistol were made between 1992-1996, and features a skeletonized hammer, a wider grip safety, a wider ejection port, and an undercut grip frame. You can identify the Enhanced version by its serial number with an "E" suffix.
