The Original Model 42 first appeared in May 1933. It dominted skeet ranges almost from the time it was introduced and went on to become one of the most popular shotguns in America. Browning's Model 42 is virtually identical to the original model with all the features, feel, and performance that made the Winchester Model 42 famous. The Model 42 had close ties to Browning's founder, John Browning. He sold his first repeating shotgun design to Winchester in 1886 (the lever action model 1887). It was followed by two Browning-designed pumps: Winchester Models 93 and 97. In 1910, Winchester designers took the best features of the 97 and incorporated them into the Model 12 and, later, the Model 42.

Browning introduced the special limited-edition Model 42 Ducks Unlimited Commemorative Shotgun, a 410 gauge chambered for 3-inch shells with a 26" vent-rib, Full choke barrel. The receiver features stunning scroll and bird scene engraving with gold-highlighted pheasants on the right side and gold-highlighted ducks on the left. It also comes with a special serial "00021DU410" number, which adds to the overall appeal!
