The Browning BAR II Safari chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum is a premium semi-automatic hunting rifle that combines Browning’s renowned craftsmanship with the power and versatility of one of the world’s most respected magnum cartridges. Produced as part of Browning’s high-grade BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) line, the BAR II Safari was designed for hunters who wanted the fast follow-up shots of a semi-automatic action without sacrificing the accuracy, reliability, and elegant appearance expected from a traditional sporting rifle. The rifle features a gas-operated semi-automatic system, a strong steel receiver, a smooth cycling action, and a finely finished walnut stock with classic checkering and blued metalwork, giving it both a refined appearance and excellent field durability. Chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum, the BAR II Safari provides outstanding long-range performance, flat trajectory, and significant energy for large game such as elk, moose, and other North American big-game species. The addition of the Browning BOSS (Ballistic Optimizing Shooting System) muzzle brake enhances the rifle’s performance by allowing barrel harmonics to be tuned for improved accuracy while also reducing felt recoil; Browning’s BOSS system uses an adjustable weight and vented brake design to help optimize a rifle’s accuracy potential, with the muzzle-brake version also providing substantial recoil reduction at the cost of increased muzzle blast.
