The Charles Daly 1911 A1 EFS (Enhanced Field) is a full-size, Government-pattern semi-automatic pistol that represents a modernized interpretation of the classic 1911 design, offering a blend of traditional operation with factory-installed performance upgrades at an accessible price point. Imported by KBI and manufactured in the Philippines by Armscor, the EFS model builds on the standard 1911 platform with a single-action, short-recoil, locked-breech system, chambered most commonly in .45 ACP and feeding from standard single-stack magazines typically holding 7 or 8 rounds. What sets the EFS apart from more basic GI-style 1911s is its inclusion of enhanced features designed to improve handling and shootability, such as a beavertail grip safety for better recoil control and reduced hammer bite, a skeletonized hammer and trigger for improved lock time and a cleaner trigger pull, and front and rear slide serrations for more positive manipulation. The pistol also typically incorporates Novak-style low-profile sights, which provide a clearer sight picture and are less prone to snagging compared to traditional GI sights, along with an extended thumb safety that allows for easier engagement and disengagement during defensive or competitive use. 
 
Constructed with a steel frame and slide, the EFS has a solid, durable feel and the weight characteristic of full-size 1911s, which helps manage recoil and contributes to its reputation for smooth shooting.
