Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Introduced in 1986 as an elite member of Colt's revered "Seven Serpents" lineage, the Colt King Cobra was designed to combine heavy-duty field durability with tournament-grade magnum precision. Forged on Colt's reinforced medium-large "V-frame", the King Cobra utilized high-strength ordnance stainless steel to comfortably withstand high volumes of full-power .357 Magnum cartridges. Among the most sought-after variations of the entire series is the full 6-inch barrel configuration dressed in Colt's factory "Ultimate Bright Stainless" high-mirror polish. The 6-inch solid underlug barrel acts as an exceptional muzzle-forward counterbalance, substantially dampening recoil and muzzle climb for flat-shooting accuracy downrange. Outfitted with a micrometer-adjustable white-outline rear target sight, high-visibility red ramp front blade, oval-checkered wide-spur hammer, and factory finger-groove rubber Gripper stocks inset with iconic gold Rampant Colt medallions, the 6-inch King Cobra represents an enduring icon of late-20th-century Hartford revolver manufacturing.
This specific example is an authentic American-manufactured Hartford Colt King Cobra double-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum / .38 Special, bearing serial number KU1940. Configured in top-tier target trim with a 6-inch full underlug barrel and brilliant factory mirror-polished Ultimate Bright Stainless finish, it features a red ramp front sight, white-outline target rear sight, smooth target trigger, wide target hammer, and original factory black rubber Gripper stocks with radiant gold Rampant Colt medallions. The mirror-polished stainless surfaces present in exceptional, museum-grade condition throughout, exhibiting brilliant chrome-like reflections, laser-sharp roll-marks, and only an extraordinarily faint cylinder turn line. The factory finger-groove rubber stocks remain factory-supple with sharp checkering, crisp molded Colt heel emblems, and flawless gold medallions. Mechanically, the action operates with clockwork perfection, the double-action pull is silky smooth, the single-action break is hair-trigger crisp, timing and lockup are bank-vault tight, and the 6-inch barrel bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling throughout. Complete in its original factory Colt blue clamshell hard case with King Cobra instruction manual, yellow warning hangtag, dealer network sheet, and factory paperwork, this Ultimate Bright King Cobra is an investment-grade showpiece.
