This exceptional Colt Single Action Army features Class "C" Expert Level coverage executed by Master Engraver John Adams. This designation represents roughly 60% to 75% coverage of the firearm's surface area, blanketing the frame, cylinder, and barrel in meticulously hand-cut, classic American scrollwork. This exceptional Colt Single Action Army "Peacemaker" is one of only 100 revolvers commissioned by the Sheriff's Posse of Contra Costa County to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office (1850–2000). Built by Colt as a Third Generation Single Action Army chambered in .45 Colt with a 4¾-inch barrel and high-polish nickel finish, the revolver was produced as part of a strictly limited run bearing consecutive serial numbers CCCSO1 through CCCSO100. Distinguished by its genuine one-piece ivory grips, custom Contra Costa County Sheriff's badges engraved into the frame and backstrap, and special commemorative markings honoring both the Sheriff's Office and the new millennium, the revolver represents a unique blend of Colt craftsmanship, law enforcement history, and limited-production collectibility.
 
Adding significantly to its desirability is the extensive provenance accompanying the firearm. Included documentation confirms that the revolver's elaborate Class "C" American Scroll engraving—covering approximately 60% to 75% of the firearm's surface—was executed by renowned master engraver John I. Adams Sr. of Adams & Adams Custom Engravers in Vershire, Vermont. A signed authentication letter from Adams verifies that the revolver was received directly from Colt in June 1999, engraved in his shop, and returned to Colt in July 1999. Additional original correspondence from the Sheriff's Posse confirms the revolver's delivery to its original purchaser and documents its place within the commemorative program. Complete with its factory paperwork, engraving authentication, and commemorative documentation, this rare Sheriff's Posse Colt stands as a highly desirable collector-grade package and an important modern Colt Custom Shop commemorative with impeccable provenance.
