The CZ 75 Compact is a shortened, more easily concealable version of the legendary CZ 75 service pistol, retaining the excellent ergonomics, all-steel construction, and smooth shooting characteristics of the full-size model while offering improved portability for concealed carry and general defensive use. Produced by Ceská zbrojovka Uherský Brod, the CZ 75 Compact is chambered primarily in 9×19mm and operates using the same proven short-recoil, locked-breech system as the standard CZ 75, with the distinctive slide-in-frame rail arrangement that lowers the bore axis and contributes to reduced muzzle flip and enhanced accuracy. The Compact model typically features a slightly shortened barrel of around 3.75 inches and a reduced grip frame while still maintaining a comfortable full-hand grip for most shooters. Like the full-size CZ 75, it utilizes a traditional double-action/single-action trigger system with an exposed hammer, allowing the pistol to be carried either hammer-down for a double-action first shot or “cocked and locked” with the manual safety engaged in classic 1911 fashion. Magazine capacity is commonly around 14 rounds in 9mm, depending on the magazine design, giving it substantial firepower for a compact handgun.
