The CZ Shadow 2 is a full-size, all-steel semi-automatic pistol introduced in 2016 as the successor to the highly regarded CZ Shadow, specifically engineered for practical shooting competitions. Chambered primarily in 9×19mm, with limited production variants available in .40 S&W, it operates using a short-recoil, locked-breech system based on the proven CZ-75 design with a traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger mechanism. The Shadow 2 features a 4.89-inch cold hammer-forged barrel, an extended beavertail, undercut trigger guard, and an enlarged steel frame with a higher beavertail geometry that positions the shooter's hand closer to the bore axis for improved recoil control. A full-length dust cover adds weight to the front of the pistol, reducing muzzle rise and improving balance during rapid fire. The slide rides inside the frame rails, a signature characteristic of the CZ-75 family that provides increased slide-to-frame engagement and contributes to the pistol's smooth cycling and consistent lockup. Standard magazine capacity is 17 rounds, although factory 19-round magazines and extended competition magazines are commonly available. Additional features include an extended magazine release, ambidextrous manual safety, interchangeable magazine release buttons, checkered aluminum grip panels, and a fully adjustable rear sight paired with a fiber-optic front sight on most standard models.
