Wayne Bergquist was a highly respected Florida master gunsmith and competitive shooter who became known worldwide as one of the premier builders of custom 1911 pistols. Working from Naples for roughly four decades, Bergquist developed a reputation for painstaking hand-fitting, exceptional reliability, refined triggers, and competition-ready pistols that required little or no break-in. Because his firearms were produced in limited numbers and individually built for demanding shooters, authentic examples bearing his “W.B.” work are now strongly sought after by collectors who appreciate both elite craftsmanship and the legacy of a pistolsmith widely regarded as one of the finest of his era.
