The FN Five-seveN is a distinctive semi-automatic pistol recognized for its innovative design, unique cartridge, and advanced performance capabilities. Developed by Fabrique Nationale Herstal as a companion handgun to the FN P90 personal defense weapon, the Five-seveN was introduced in the late 1990s and chambered for the proprietary 5.7×28mm cartridge. Designed around the concept of a lightweight, high-capacity sidearm, the pistol features a polymer frame, a steel slide assembly, a low bore axis, and a delayed-blowback operating system that reduces recoil and enables rapid follow-up shots.
