The Glock 24 Gen 2 is a long-slide, .40 S&W semi-automatic pistol built on Glock’s second-generation frame design, which was produced primarily in the late 1980s through the 1990s. It is based on the same polymer-frame, striker-fired operating system that defines all Glock pistols, using a short recoil–operated, locked-breech system with Glock’s Safe Action trigger mechanism. The Glock 24 was designed specifically for competition shooting, and its defining feature is its extended barrel and slide length (approximately 6.02 inches of barrel length), which increases sight radius and helps improve practical accuracy. Chambered in .40 S&W, it uses standard Glock double-stack magazines and shares many internal components with other early .40-caliber Glock models like the Glock 22, making it part of Glock’s early expansion into higher-pressure law enforcement cartridges during the 1990s. The Gen 2 frame is recognizable by its no finger grooves, checkering on the front and rear grip surfaces, and lack of accessory rail, giving it a more minimalist, early-production Glock appearance compared to later generations.
