The Harrington & Richardson U.S. Model MC-58, commonly known as the U.S. Marine Corps Training Rifle, is a highly regarded bolt-action .22 caliber rifle developed specifically to provide economical marksmanship instruction while closely duplicating the handling characteristics of full-sized military service rifles. Manufactured by Harrington & Richardson Arms Company during the late 1950s, the MC-58 was produced under contract for the United States Marine Corps and chambered in .22 Long Rifle, allowing recruits to develop shooting fundamentals with minimal recoil and significantly reduced ammunition costs. Built with a heavy target barrel and a robust bolt-action system, the rifle featured a full-length walnut stock that closely resembled contemporary military rifles, contributing to realistic training conditions.
