The High Standard Sport-King First Model, commonly known as the "Lever Name" Sport-King, is a classic American rimfire pistol renowned for its quality craftsmanship, reliability, and exceptional accuracy. Introduced in the post-World War II era, the Sport-King was designed as an affordable sporting and target pistol while retaining the precision engineering that made High Standard one of the premier manufacturers of .22 caliber handguns. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, the First Model features the distinctive frame-mounted takedown lever that gave rise to the "Lever Name" designation among collectors. Its simple blowback operation, comfortable grip angle, and excellent trigger characteristics made it a favorite for target shooting, plinking, and small game hunting, helping establish High Standard as one of America's leading producers of rimfire pistols during the mid-20th century.
 
This example features a richly blued finish, a 6-inch barrel, and factory brown marbled synthetic grips with diamond checkering, a left-side thumb rest, and the iconic High Standard eagle logo. The fixed blade front sight and drift-adjustable dovetailed rear sight provide a durable and effective sighting system, while the longer barrel contributes to excellent balance and inherent accuracy. As one of the earliest Sport-King variants, the First Model is especially appreciated by collectors for its distinctive design and historical significance within the High Standard product line.
