The High Standard Victor is one of the most respected American-made target pistols ever produced, earning an outstanding reputation among competitive shooters and precision rimfire enthusiasts for its exceptional accuracy, refined trigger quality, and advanced target-oriented design. Manufactured by High Standard Manufacturing Company, the Victor was introduced during the 1960s as the flagship model in High Standard’s famous Supermatic series and was specifically engineered for serious bullseye competition and precision target shooting. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, the pistol represented the pinnacle of High Standard’s rimfire target pistol development during an era when formal bullseye shooting and Olympic-style competition were at their peak popularity in the United States. One of the defining characteristics of the High Standard Victor is its highly distinctive barrel design, most notably the ventilated rib and removable barrel weight system found on many examples, which allowed shooters to customize balance and handling characteristics for personal preference and competition needs. The pistol typically featured a heavy match-grade barrel, fully adjustable target sights, an exceptionally crisp trigger, and anatomically shaped target grips designed to promote maximum stability and control during one-handed precision shooting.
