Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this coveted semi-automatic rifle today for a penny-start auction, this is the Israel Military Industries (IMI) / Action Arms Uzi Carbine Model A.
 
The IMI / Action Arms Uzi Carbine Model A stands as a premier collectible, representing the initial commercial success of a design that originally saw limited U.S. use by the CIA and Secret Service after its adoption by the Israeli military in the 1950s. Interest surged in the 1970s when the weapon's designer, Uzi Gal, moved to the United States and collaborated with Harry Stern of Action Manufacturing to create a semi-automatic variant. Launched at the 1980 SHOT Show and imported by Action Arms, the Model A was produced by IMI between 1980 and 1983 within a specific serial number range of SA01001 to SA37000.
 
This particular example bears the low serial number SA01359, making it an early production model.

The IMI / Action Arms Uzi Carbine Model A stands as a premier collectible, representing the initial commercial success of a design that originally saw limited U.S. use by the CIA and Secret Service after its adoption by the Israeli military in the 1950s. Interest surged in the 1970s when the weapon's designer, Uzi Gal, moved to the United States and collaborated with Harry Stern of Action Manufacturing to create a semi-automatic variant. Launched at the 1980 SHOT Show and imported by Action Arms, the Model A was produced by IMI between 1980 and 1983 within a specific serial number range of SA01001 to SA37000. Throughout the lifespan of the Action Arms imports, which totaled approximately 72,000 units, two primary versions emerged: the original Model A and its successor, the Model B, which took over in 1983. While the Model A remains highly prized for its historical significance as the first semi-auto iteration, it lacks the technical updates found on the Model B. These include an added firing pin safety to prevent the gun from firing out of battery, as well as minor changes to the sights and sling swivels.
