Rather than being produced by a single company, these revolvers were manufactured under contract for Fred Biffar & Company, a Chicago-based mail-order sporting goods retailer that stamped the evocative trade name on the barrels to boost consumer appeal. Prominent American manufacturers, including Iver Johnson, Harrington & Richardson (H&R), Hopkins & Allen, and the Meriden Firearms Company, all built versions of these budget-friendly handguns, alongside a small number of unnamed Spanish manufacturers in the Eibar region. This Iver Johnson-produced revolver showcases the height of that partnership, featuring a deep factory blue finish and chambering the classic, low-pressure .32 S&W cartridge. Delivering a practical, snag-free sight picture, the revolver is built with a 5-inch barrel outfitted with a fixed blade front sight and an integral notch rear. Completing the vintage look, checkered black hard rubber grips feature the signature intertwined "SSS" logos at the top of the panels.

While most configurations were standard double-action models, select Iver Johnson variants featured a manual push-button safety block mounted on the frame behind the cylinder.
