The IWI Tavor X95 represents the next generation of bullpup rifle design from IWI US, Inc., incorporating a series of ergonomic and functional enhancements over the earlier TAVOR SAR platform. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, this gas-piston-operated, semi-automatic rifle uses a long-stroke gas piston system with a closed rotating-bolt engineered for durability and reliability under demanding conditions. The chrome-lined, cold-hammer-forged CrMoV barrel measures 16.5" in length and features a 1:7" right-hand twist with six grooves, optimized to stabilize a broad range of projectile weights, while an A2-style flash hider is fitted to 1/2×28 threads. The reinforced polymer bullpup configuration keeps the overall length to a compact 26.125" while maintaining full rifle barrel performance, and the rifle weighs approximately 7.9 lbs. Upgrades and enhancements from the original TAVOR SAR include a refined fire control pack with a crisp 5–6 lb. trigger pull, an ambidextrous magazine release repositioned to the familiar AR-15 location, a relocated charging handle positioned closer to the shooter’s center mass, and a smaller, lower-profile bolt release button for improved handling. The modular forearm incorporates Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions with removable rail covers, while integrated QD sling attachment points are located on the stock and receiver for added versatility. Feeding from standard 30-round magazines, the rifle is further equipped with folding backup sights consisting of a front sight with Tritium insert and a rear aperture sight, completing a modern, compact rifle engineered for maneuverability, adaptability, and dependable performance.
