The Kahr P9 is a landmark compact semi-automatic pistol introduced in 1999 as Kahr Arms’ first polymer-framed handgun and a lightweight evolution of the original all-steel K9. Chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum, the P9 was designed specifically for concealed carry, combining a slim profile with full-power 9mm capability. It features a polymer frame reinforced with stainless-steel inserts, a blackened stainless-steel slide, a 3.6-inch polygonally rifled barrel, a striker-fired double-action-only (DAO) trigger system, a low bore axis, and a single-stack magazine holding 7 rounds. Weighing roughly 15 ounces unloaded, the P9 was significantly lighter than many competing compact pistols of its era while maintaining excellent accuracy and controllability. Its smooth DAO trigger, narrow grip, snag-resistant design, and quality machining helped establish Kahr as an innovator in the concealed-carry market and influenced the development of many later slim polymer 9mm pistols.
