Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Engineered by George Kellgren and the design team at Kel-Tec in Cocoa, Florida, the SUB-2000 Gen 2 represents one of the most innovative and practical pistol-caliber carbines (PCC) ever developed. Designed specifically for backpackers, truck carry, and home defense, the SUB-2000 features a patented central hinge mechanism that allows the entire barrel and handguard assembly to fold back over the top of the receiver—reducing its overall length to a compact 16.25 inches for easy storage in standard bags or cases. Upgraded over the original generation, the Gen 2 incorporates integrated M-LOK mounting slots along the handguard sides, top and bottom Picatinny accessory rails, an adjustable 3-position buttstock, an ergonomic grip frame, and 1/2x28 muzzle threading for suppressors or compensators. Native to the widely popular Glock 19/23 double-stack magazine platform, the SUB-2000 shares magazine and cartridge compatibility with standard Glock handguns, offering a lightweight, rapid-deploying 9mm carbine layout.
This specific example is an authentic American-manufactured Kel-Tec SUB-2000 Gen 2 semi-automatic folding carbine chambered in 9mm Luger, bearing serial number FFLR42. Configured in complete modern tactical trim, it features a 16.25-inch threaded barrel with knurled thread protector, M-LOK handguard, top/bottom Picatinny rails, Glock 19/23 magazine grip frame, folding iron sights, 3-position buttstock, and a pre-installed Sig Sauer ROMEO5 high-efficiency 1x20mm red dot optic mounted on the top rail. The factory matte black finishes present in clean overall condition throughout, displaying clear receiver stampings and smooth polymer surfaces. Mechanically, the folding barrel latch unlocks smooth, action cycling functions properly, optic glass is clear with a bright red dot reticle, and the 16.25-inch barrel bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling throughout. Offered as a complete, optic-equipped folding PCC package, this SUB-2000 Gen 2 is ready for range use, backpack carry, or collection.
