Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Originally introduced in 1894 and continuously celebrated as one of the finest pistol-caliber lever actions in American history, the Marlin Model 1894CS represents the gold standard in handy, fast-handling lever carbines. Built around Marlin's signature solid-top receiver with side ejection, the 1894 offers superior structural rigidity, complete weather protection for internal cycling parts, and an ideal platform for direct top scope mounting. Chambered in the universally popular .357 Magnum and .38 Special cartridges, this versatile carbine delivers flat trajectories, mild recoil, and hard-hitting downrange authority. Outfitted with an 18-inch barrel, full-length tubular magazine, cross-bolt hammer safety, and handsome checkered American black walnut furniture, the Model 1894CS remains a cherished favorite among Cowboy Action competitors, woodsmen, and lever-gun collectors alike.
This specific example is an authentic American-manufactured Marlin Model 1894CS lever-action carbine chambered in dual .357 Magnum / .38 Special, bearing serial number MR21041E. Configured in classic factory trim, it features an 18-inch round blued barrel, full-length tubular magazine, factory blued receiver drilled and tapped for optics mounting, semi-buckhorn rear sight, hooded ramp front sight blade, side-loading gate, and factory checkered American walnut straight-grip stock capped with a cushioned rubber buttpad. The factory blued metal surfaces present in excellent overall condition, retaining deep, rich bluing across the receiver and barrel flats with minimal handling marks. The checkered walnut stock and forend are in great condition, exhibiting crisp diamond checkering panels, warm satin wood tones, and clean contours throughout. Mechanically, the lever action cycles smoothly, the side ejection and feeding mechanisms operate crisply, hammer lockup is tight, and the 18-inch barrel bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling throughout. A quintessential American pistol-caliber carbine, this Marlin 1894CS is ready for the range or the field.
