Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Government Model Mk IV Series '70 represents one of the most celebrated evolutions in the long history of John Browning's M1911 design. Introduced in 1970, the Series '70 brought improved factory accuracy thanks to its split "collet" barrel bushing, which centered the barrel tightly against the slide cap. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, the newly formed Colt Custom Gun Shop produced highly specialized, limited-production runs of the Series '70 for discerning shooters and collectors. Among these custom offerings, factory Electroless Nickel finish (often called "E-Nickel") models stood out for their silky satin appearance and superior corrosion resistance compared to standard bright nickel or bluing. This specific example, serial number 95102B70 manufactured in 1981, is an exceptionally rare survivor from the Colt Custom Gun Shop. As explicitly verified by its original end label, this pistol left configured with a factory Electroless Nickel finish, custom extended safeties, skeletonized target hammer, serrated mainspring housing, and an upgraded MMC white-outline adjustable rear sight. The pistol remains in outstanding, pristine collector condition, displaying clean satin surfaces and crisp roll marks. Preserved with its original factory woodgrain box, inner Styrofoam clam-shell insert, Colt Custom Shop end label, instruction manuals, "The Colt Companion" booklet, warning hangtag, and factory-finished magazine, this offering represents an elite investment piece for the serious Colt 1911 collector.
