The Palmetto State Armory PSAK-74 is a U.S.-made semi-automatic AK-74 pattern rifle produced by Palmetto State Armory, chambered in 5.45×39mm, and designed as a domestic alternative to imported Soviet/Russian AK-74 rifles. It follows the classic Kalashnikov long-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt, using a stamped steel receiver, AK-74 style trunnion, and a 16-inch barrel. Most PSAK-74 variants feature modernized manufacturing components such as nitrided barrels, forged or cast internal parts depending on generation, and 90-degree gas blocks with the distinctive AK-74 muzzle brake. The rifle is built to accept standard AK-74 pattern magazines and uses the same basic manual of arms as other AK platforms, including a right-side safety selector, rock-and-lock magazine system, and fixed iron sights calibrated for the 5.45 cartridge.
