The Remington 552 Speedmaster is a classic American semi-automatic .22 rimfire rifle that was introduced in 1957 and remained in production for more than six decades. It uses a simple blowback-operated action with a tubular magazine beneath the barrel and is chambered to fire .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle cartridges interchangeably, a feature that made it stand out from most other rimfire autoloaders. The rifle features a slim receiver, a distinctive left-side charging handle, adjustable iron sights, and grooved receiver rails for scope mounting. Most examples wear walnut stocks and blued steel, giving the rifle a traditional sporting appearance that has remained largely unchanged throughout its production life.
