The Remington 700 ADL (A Deluxe) is a basic, factory entry-level configuration of the Model 700 bolt-action rifle, introduced alongside the platform in 1962 and chambered in a wide range of cartridges including popular hunting rounds like .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and various magnum calibers such as 7mm Remington Magnum. Mechanically, it is built on the standard Remington 700 cylindrical receiver with dual opposed locking lugs and a recessed bolt face (“counterbored” design), contributing to strong case support and the action’s well-known accuracy potential. The ADL variant is defined primarily by its simplified “blind magazine” system, meaning it does not have a hinged floorplate for unloading; instead, cartridges are loaded and unloaded through the action, and the internal magazine holds typically 4 rounds in standard calibers or 3 rounds in magnum calibers. ADL rifles were commonly paired with a plain walnut or synthetic stock without checkering or embellishments in earlier production, later evolving into more utilitarian injection-molded stocks in modern production runs. The ADL shares the same core action, barrel threading, and receiver dimensions as higher-grade 700 models, but omits cosmetic and convenience features such as upgraded stocks, hinged floorplates, and higher-grade finishes found on BDL models.
