Introduced in the early 1960s, the Model 700 quickly gained a reputation for exceptional accuracy, strength, and reliability, and the BDL Custom Deluxe variant was designed to offer a more elegant and feature-rich configuration suited for serious hunters and rifle enthusiasts. The rifle operates with a manually operated bolt-action system built around a strong cylindrical receiver and dual opposed locking lugs that provide solid lock-up and consistent accuracy. The BDL model typically features a high-gloss walnut stock with decorative checkering, a raised Monte Carlo comb, and a contrasting fore-end tip and grip cap, giving the rifle a classic and highly polished sporting appearance.
