Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Introduced in 1950, the Remington Model 870 Wingmaster set the gold standard for American pump-action shotguns. Built with a solid steel receiver machined from a single billet, dual-action guide bars to prevent binding during rapid cycling, and a smooth twin-lug rotary bolt design, the 870 Wingmaster quickly earned an unmatched reputation for ultra-reliable cycling and smooth handling in waterfowl blinds and upland fields across the country. Magnum-designated Wingmaster models feature heavy-duty receiver construction engineered to handle full-power 3-inch 12-gauge magnum shells, making them especially desirable for long-range waterfowlers and field shotgun enthusiasts.
This specific example is an authentic vintage Remington Model 870 Wingmaster Magnum chambered in 12 Gauge (3" Magnum), bearing serial number S220113M. Built for long-range waterfowl and flighted game, it features a 30-inch plain barrel with a fixed Full choke, a deep, high-gloss factory blued steel finish, a cross-bolt safety, and handsome, gloss-finished American walnut furniture accented with classic Fleur-de-Lis checkering patterns and white-line spacers. The original blued finish and walnut stocks are in attractive overall condition, with minor handling scuffs and light finish wear on the receiver top consistent with honest field use. Mechanically, the action cycles buttery smooth along the dual action bars, the lockup is vault-tight, and the 30-inch bore is clean and bright.
