Manufactured primarily by Remington Arms in Ilion, New York, the 03-A3 incorporated stamped steel components, a simplified upper handguard, and a vastly improved aperture rear sight mounted directly to the rear receiver bridge—greatly increasing sight radius and rapid target acquisition over earlier barrel-mounted tangent sights. Retaining Paul Mauser's legendary dual front-locking lug bolt-action mechanism, controlled-feed claw extractor, and chambered in the powerful .30-06 Springfield cartridge, the Remington M1903A3 served with distinction alongside the M1 Garand in the hands of American GIs, Marines, military police, and Allied forces worldwide.
