Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Savage Arms Model 101 is a unique American single-shot .22 pistol produced by Savage Arms between 1960 and 1968. Despite its appearance, it is not a revolver in the traditional sense—it uses a clever design where a fake cylinder is pinned in place to resemble a six-shot single-action revolver, but it actually fires only one round of .22 Long Rifle at a time. To load it, the barrel and cylinder assembly swings open to the side, exposing a single chamber for loading and unloading, with an ejector mechanism to remove spent cases. Designed by Robert L. Hillberg, the Model 101 was intended as a simple, inexpensive training and recreational handgun, especially appealing to younger shooters and casual plinking. It features a die-cast frame with steel components, fixed sights (often adjustable on later examples), and wood or laminated grips depending on the variant. While not a high-performance firearm by modern standards, it is well-regarded today as an odd but ingenious piece of firearms history due to its “fake revolver” design and simple, reliable single-shot action.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3-day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
