This Savage Model 1903 is a historic slide-action (pump) rimfire rifle chambered in .22 S/L/LR, manufactured at the company's Utica, New York plant in approximately 1921 or early 1922. Sitting at the absolute pinnacle of its production run as one of the last few thousand ever built, this late-era specimen carries the definitive factory roll-stamp featuring the December 25, 1906 patent date on its heavy, classic octagonal barrel. Mechanically distinct from other vintage pump-actions of its era, the Model 1903 is defined by its innovative detachable box magazine feeding system that fits cleanly ahead of the trigger guard rather than utilizing a standard under-barrel tube. The rifle retains its original straight-grip walnut stock and ribbed wooden slide handle, and it comes equipped with an upgraded, period-correct marbles-style tang peep sight mounted to the wrist of the frame for enhanced target alignment.
