The Nighthawk Custom Chris Costa Recon Compact, also known as the Costa Compact, is the smaller companion to the full-size Costa Recon and was built as part of Nighthawk’s Chris Costa Signature Series. Rather than using the full-size railed Government frame of the Recon, the Compact uses an Officer-size frame paired with a Commander-length slide, giving it a shorter grip for easier concealment while still retaining a 4.25-inch barrel and traditional bushing system. It features many of the same distinctive Costa-series details, including a faceted and serrated slide top, aggressive front and rear cocking serrations, beveled slide treatment, red fiber-optic front sight, Heinie SlantPro rear sight, high-cut checkered front strap, one-piece mainspring housing/magwell, G10 grips, Melonite finish, and Nighthawk’s Everlast Recoil System. Built with Nighthawk’s hand-fit, one-gunsmith-at-a-time construction, the Costa Compact is a desirable discontinued semi-custom 1911 that combines Chris Costa’s defensive pistol influence with a more carry-friendly profile than the full-size Recon.
