The SIG Sauer Mosquito is a compact .22 Long Rifle semi-automatic pistol introduced in 2003 as a rimfire training companion to the full-size SIG Sauer P226. Approximately 90% the size of a P226, the Mosquito features a blowback-operated action, double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger, frame-mounted decocking lever, ambidextrous manual safety, and a 10-round detachable magazine. Chambered exclusively in .22 LR, it was designed to provide shooters with the familiar controls and handling of SIG's centerfire pistols while allowing inexpensive practice. The pistol has a polymer frame and a lightweight alloy slide and was discontinued around 2013.
