Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The SIG Sauer P238 Scorpion is a compact, premium variant of the P238 micro-1911–style pistol, chambered in .380 ACP and introduced as part of SIG’s Scorpion cosmetic/performance line. It uses a single-action-only, hammer-fired design modeled closely after a scaled-down 1911, with a 2.7-inch barrel, aluminum alloy frame, and stainless steel slide. The Scorpion variant is distinguished by its Flat Dark Earth (FDE) finish (typically PVD or Cerakote depending on production year), G10 Hogue Piranha-style grips, and enhanced sighting setup, usually featuring SIGLITE tritium night sights. Standard capacity is 6+1 with flush magazine and 7+1 with extended magazine, and it uses a single-stack magazine system. The pistol includes a manual thumb safety on both sides (on most Scorpion models), slide stop, and standard 1911-style controls, but does not use a grip safety. The operating system is straight blowback, relying on slide mass and recoil spring tension rather than a locked-breech system, which is typical for .380 ACP pistols of this size. Overall dimensions are very compact at roughly 5.5 inches overall length and about 15 ounces unloaded, making it a true pocket or deep concealment firearm rather than a duty-size platform
