Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson .32 Safety Hammerless 3rd Model is a double-action-only top-break revolver featuring a five-shot fluted cylinder measuring a nominal length of 0.95". Standard barrel lengths were 3" and 3 1/2" (the 3" being the most common), with 2" and 6" barrels produced in rare, smaller numbers. On the common 3-inch and 3 1/2-inch versions, a round blade front sight is forged directly into the barrel, though the rare 2-inch barrel variant may feature either a pinned or forged sight. The revolver was offered in either nickel or blue finish, and typically fitted with checkered black hard-rubber grips bearing the S&W monogram. Additional features include a rounded trigger guard, a fully enclosed hammer, and a rear sight formed by a notch on the raised portion of the barrel latch. The sideplate on the left side of the frame is held in place with two screws. The 3rd Model was produced from the serial number range of roughly 170000 to 242981, with a total of 73,000 manufactured circa 1909–1937.
