Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Introduced in 2008 for a very brief production run, the Smith & Wesson Night Guard series represented one of the most innovative and specialized personal defense revolver concepts ever developed in Springfield, Massachusetts. Engineered on Smith & Wesson's heavy-duty N-frame architecture, the Model 327 Night Guard achieved an extraordinary balance of massive 8-shot .357 Magnum firepower and ultra-lightweight carry comfort by utilizing a space-age Scandium aluminum alloy frame paired with a PVD-finished cylinder and a 2.5-inch barrel sleeve system. Outfitted from the factory with premium tactical sight components—including a pinned XS Tritium night front sight dot mated to a rugged Cylinder & Slide Extreme Duty fixed rear sight notch—the 327NG was built explicitly for low-light defensive applications. Due to low production numbers and discontinued status, original Night Guard series revolvers have become highly sought-after modern classics among tactical revolver collectors.
This prime example is an authentic Smith & Wesson Model 327 Night Guard in .357 Magnum, bearing serial number DCP2126 and documented to August 19, 2008 by its factory spent casing envelope. The firearm features a matte black PVD finish over its Scandium frame and 8-shot cylinder, textured Pachmayr rubber grips with S&W logos, and original XS Tritium front sight paired with the factory Cylinder & Slide rear notch. It comes exceptionally well-preserved with its original factory blue hardshell case with matching serial label ("DCP2126"), owner's instruction manual, Club 1852 card, cable lock, frame lock keys, and original factory test casing envelope serialized to this exact revolver. The matte black finish presents crisp coverage throughout, the 8-shot cylinder timing is precise, lockup is tight, and the 2.5-inch bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling. A rare, high-tier N-frame tactical revolver package ready for immediate collection or personal defense carry.
