Produced by Smith & Wesson between 1987 and 1996, the Model 422 introduced a groundbreaking approach to rimfire handgun engineering. Designed around a lightweight aluminum alloy frame paired with an innovative low-bore-axis layout—where the fixed barrel is positioned below the recoil spring inside the frame assembly—the 422 delivers near-zero muzzle flip and exceptional natural pointability. Coupled with its crisp single-action trigger pull, lightweight carry profile, and reliable 10-round detachable magazine feeding system, the Model 422 Field model quickly became a favorite among trail hikers, plinkers, and target marksmen. This factory-complete, clean example of the Smith & Wesson Model 422 Field pistol was manufactured in Houlton, Maine, bearing serial number "UAF0572". Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, it features a 4.5-inch fixed barrel, fixed target sights, matte black anodized aluminum frame, and factory black checkered composite grips complete with S&W logo medallions. Showing excellent physical condition with smooth bolt cycling, crisp mechanical lockup, and a mirror-bright bore, this handgun comes complete in its original factory blue box with matching end label (Product Code 102821). This complete S&W Model 422 offers an outstanding rimfire target setup for casual plinkers, trail shooters, and Smith & Wesson collectors.
