Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 58 is a highly respected N-frame double-action revolver that was introduced in 1964 alongside the powerful .41 Remington Magnum cartridge, offering law enforcement officers and sportsmen a balance between the lighter .357 Magnum and the heavier .44 Magnum. Manufactured by Smith & Wesson, the Model 58 was specifically designed as a fixed-sight service revolver, featuring a robust carbon steel N-frame, a heavy 4-inch barrel, blued finish, and smooth walnut service stocks that reflected its intended duty role. Unlike its adjustable-sight counterpart, the Model 57, the Model 58 was built with rugged fixed sights to withstand the demands of police service while still delivering the outstanding accuracy and strength associated with Smith & Wesson’s large-frame revolvers. Although the .41 Magnum offered excellent ballistic performance, its recoil and ammunition cost ultimately limited its widespread adoption by law enforcement, resulting in relatively modest production numbers compared to other Smith & Wesson revolvers. Today, the Model 58 is highly sought after by collectors and revolver enthusiasts for its unique place in firearms history, its association with the powerful .41 Magnum cartridge, and its reputation as one of the finest fixed-sight service revolvers ever produced.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3-day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
